The Impact of Keynesianism on Macroeconomic Policies of a State Essay
The Impact of Keynesianism on Macroeconomic Policies of a State - Essay Example This paper offers comprehensive review of the successful applications of Keynesianism concepts in the macroeconomic policies of different countries. Also fundamental changes in the macroeconomic methodology, introduced by Keynes is under consideration It is clear that to try and characterize a Keynesian policy regime is very difficult. Most authors concur in seeing the policies pursued in early postwar Britain as deserving that name, with however much qualification. Perhaps the best term is simple or hydraulic Keynesianism Simple Keynesianism is a term employed by Alan Booth to describe how the very broad agenda of 1930s Keynesianism was narrowed, by going through the Whitehall machine in the later years of the war, so that by the late 1940s the Keynesian program focused primarily on the simple manipulation of aggregate demand. This program did not have much impact on policy in the early postwar years because of the government's emphasis on controls and planning, but after 1947 it became more important as fiscal policy displaced physical controls. In broader perspective, the impact of this regime in creating the concurrent period of full employment has been much debated. An early postwar generation tended to see a direct line from Keynesian theory to Keynesian policy to full employment. A one-sentence summary of the existing literature on the Keynesian revolution in economic policy with regard to Britain in the 1951-64 period would suggest that "much ado about nothing" would be a considerable exaggeration; but the positive benefits to the economy of this regime have to be set clearly in the context of international boom that characterized this period, a boom in which countries with variant policy regimes participated.

Fascebook - Essay Example In other cases like Zuckerbergââ¬â¢s, where leadership seems to be more authentically connected to team rather than personal goals, the groups tend to work more effectively and move together towards goals more saliently. This can be related to rational systems theory, when aligned with these theories of leadership. ââ¬Å"While focusing on the growth of the user base, Facebook also paid close attention to the revenue side of the business. The company had several sources of income: direct brand sales, online sales, working with the top 200 advertisers in the USA, etcâ⬠(Facebook, 2010). At Facebook, Zuckerberg shows how effective leadership is perhaps the most important factor in creating successful partnerships. True leaders are able to motivate and provide vision while still subscribing to a basic pattern of teamwork and support that engenders an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect. Too often leaders are more interested in leading than in providing fundamental solutions to the problems at hand. In todayââ¬â¢s dynamic society, leaders are also increasingly adhering to a pattern that accepts change, rather than stability, as the standard. This creates an environment in which dynamism is supported and can lead to new creative solutions. It is sometimes easy for a business or corporation to accept its position as the status quo without realizing that the world has a habit of changing very quickly, as todayââ¬â¢s giants can become tomorrowââ¬â¢s vacant office blocks. Therefore, effective leaders must see the change inherent in the outside environment and p roject it inwardly to adhere to the vision of their organization and supply real-world solutions to the problems at hand. ââ¬Å"Communications processes both internally with employees and externally with customers are integral parts of a systemâ⬠¦ while some advocates of systems analysis were suggesting that managers look at inputs, transformation processes and outputs,

Cloud computing - Assignment Example Without a doubt, the worldwide economic downturn forced the business organizations to reevaluate their business strategies and models from start till end. In this scenario, the business organizations spent a lot of time and resources in assessing their IT infrastructures and they considered cloud computing as a conceivable substitute to the traditional IT infrastructures. One of the most important advantages of cloud computing is that it allows the business organizations to convert fixed price mode (such as cost of ownership, servers, employee salaries , servers and additional expenses) to flexible price mode. On the other hand, with traditional IT models the organizations had to pay heavy charges all the time, whether they make extensive use of information technology or not. In fact, they had to pay higher prices for the time when IT was not used such as holidays. So there was always a fixed cost associated with traditional IT models. On the other hand, cloud computing is both scala ble and flexà ible. In addition, it allows business organizations to buy only what they need, and pay for only those services which are used (Cooke, 2010). At the present, the majority of business organizations are adopting cloud computing technology for the effective management of their business activities. In fact, the implementations of cloud computing can be seen in all the fields such as business, finance, education, defense and so on. I have chosen a case study where an Oil and Gas industry shifted its IT systems from an internal data center to Amazon EC2. The basic objective for the selection of cloud computing technology was to reduce IT costs up to 37%in the next five years, and eliminating more than 21% support calls regarding their IT system. The company is basically a UK based firm that is currently operating in the Middle East. The results of this case study demonstrated that cloud computing can be an

Speech article 2 - Essay Example In the speech, Taiwanââ¬â¢s president, Ma expresses his firm support for the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong and the need for reforms to let Hong Kong go democratic. Nearly a month ago, Hong Kong residents led by Hong Kong Federation of Students went to the street to protest the National Peopleââ¬â¢s Congress decision on proposed reforms, which denied civil nominations. The movement termed Occupy Central demand the liberty to elect the next local head of their government. The movement calls for a democratic and direct chance to elect the Chief Executive of Hong Kong without Beijingââ¬â¢s interference. Ma states that China should take the recent occurrences as an opportunity rather than a problem and facilitate a democratic transition in Hong Kong. Further, he also advised China that as a step towards achieving constitutional democracy, the country should start by letting Hong Kong go democratic. In addition, Ma suggests that with the rapidly developing economy, China is becoming a more prosperous society, and consequently, the number of wealthy people is increasing. As the wealth increases people tend to desire a more affluent lifestyle, as well as greater rule of law and more democracy. Therefore, for China, it seems there is no way out, but to give Hong Kong autonomy because eventually, the heat will be too much to bear and they will give in to the demands. Moreover, Ma clarifies that contrary to the popular belief, the need for democracy is not a strategy of the Western countries: he says, ââ¬Å"Such a desire has never been a monopoly of the West, but it is the right of all humankindâ⬠(Ying-jeou 1). Such sentiments from the president of Taiwan in favor of freedom are very relevant to the current situation because the state is also ethically Chinese as Hong Kong. Though Taiwan has been under self-rule since 1940s, the mainland China still claims sovereignty over it and vows to take control over it one day even if it means by force. Moreover, Taiwan was

Native Americans and early Euro-American settlers Essay
Native Americans and early Euro-American settlers - Essay Example The evidence is very clear in the presence of Christianity across the areas invaded by the Euro- American settlers. The discovery by Columbus in 1942 is a benchmark for the massive invasion by the early European settlers that would dominate the North American continent for several centuries (Fraser 37). Despite the manifestation of Christianity in various denominations, it once faced acceptance challenges amongst many North American natives. The differences in the denominations were very significant surrounded by the need for land, which increased the enmity between the Native Americans and the European settlers group. The Native Americans within the todayââ¬â¢s United States boundaries inclusive of the people of Hawaii, and Alaska belongs to numerous tribal and ethnic groups some of which in intact political societies. The traditional Native ceremonies are still in practice in some bands and tribes alongside old theological beliefs. The use of sweet grass, tobacco, sweat lodge ceremonies and prayers in ancient phonologies are also common amongst some people in the current society. There is also the presence of the Native American church, which comprises of both Christianity elements alongside ancient spiritual practices. The presence of these practices all along to todayââ¬â¢s society signifies strong religious beliefs and resistance to change offered by the Native American people (Kozlowski and Weber 102). The Native American religion brings along great complexity that is difficult to explain. The presence of many tribes is a profound factor alongside the verbal expression of religious principles from one generation to the other. Beliefs amongst the several tribes were different though they form a convergence at one point by sharing the major aspects. The religion amongst major tribes had a great focus on nature where animals, landscape, plants and majority of environmental elements that contribute greatly in the religious

Performance Management System Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Performance Management System - Essay Example This especially most applies on the part of the sales person and among installers. The sales personnel under the marketing department and installers under the technical department are mostly the ones who usually undergo special performance evaluation activities. Although, the performance evaluation activities applies to all, sales personnel and installers are mostly receiving special treatment most particularly in product knowledge activities, as they are the ones who should know more about the companyââ¬â¢s product in great detail. This paper focuses on the prevailing performance management system at XYZ Company including the description of the said organizationââ¬â¢s performance management system, the type of performance appraisal used, and suggestion and evaluation of the effectiveness of its appraisal and performance management process. Description of XYZââ¬â¢s performance management system At XYZ, it is all the function of the Human Resource Department to create a produ ctive design and training to initiate appraisal and corrective measures as integral components of its overall performance management system. Shown in the following figure is an illustration of the overall working performance management system at XYZ. Figure 1. XYZââ¬â¢s performance management system model. ... Thus, the training is appropriate for the Human Resource Department so that the right method of appraisal and corrective measures if necessary should be implemented, accordingly. With this, they could substantially make use of whatever information they obtain at an optimum level. After this, the Human Resource Department will try to delegate the actual appraisal process to the department heads and supervisors in every department. They will then analyze the results and implement corrective actions and measures if necessary. Type of performance appraisal used The XYZ Company uses graphic rating scale to evaluate the performance of the employees. Graphic rating is one of the oldest ways in the evaluation of employeesââ¬â¢ performance that involves listing the desirable qualities that the person being evaluated should posses and be rated with from certain range of quantitative or qualitative value (Mathis & Jackson 2011). The effectiveness of the performance appraisal process XYZ eval uates performance mainly for increase of salary and other benefits. Thus, employees have this common notion that performance appraisal is tantamount to having increase in salaries and obtaining additional benefits. On the part of the company, performance appraisal is a motivating factor because only those who receive salary increase will be evaluated in their performance. Performance appraisal should be a form of self-rating in order that employees should know how well they perform and on what ground the company should guide development (Daft & Marcic 2008). Based on this concept, the effectiveness of the performance appraisal process at XYZ at some point will not be remarkable as this would not
